EVEN IN TOUGH TIMES...THE TOUGH KEEP GIVING"

As we all know, many people are being affected by the steep economic downturn, with an uncertain end in sight.  As an Executive Board member of the United Way of Hampshire County, I was asked to meet with approximately 30 employees of Koppers Industry, in Green Spring, along with Bruce Nicholson, Parks and Recreation, in order to present the need for charitable donations for the 2009 budget.
 
Slowly, the meeting room filled with hard-working railroad men, coming in from out of the pouring rain.  Bruce explained the option of having $1.00 per pay period withdrawn from each paycheck, tax deductible, in order to help those in need in Hampshire County.  Next, I explained why I decided to accept a position with the United Way, and how much I appreciated being able to make a living in our county and it was a way of me giving back to our communities.  When United Way has their annual mee
