County United Way has been a driving force in the Western Maryland region for decades.  Started in 1957 in Allegany and Mineral Counties, some of the basic, founding principals remain, although United Way continues to change and grow in various ways.

In our region, United Way remains focused on one key issue that encompasses each of our four counties: POVERTY.  With 1 in 6 individuals impacted by daily struggles to make ends meet, CUW is proud to serve as the facilitator to create opportunities for change and IMPACT that will help bring individuals out of poverty to thrive.
