For over 10 years, United Way of Hampshire County has served as a problem solver for our community by linking funding and resources with various community agencies to help those in need.  The United Way engages our community in conversations to identify the missing pieces that may prevent individuals and families from being successful.  Through collaboration and collective resources, United Way building networks to solve the needs that complete that puzzle.

United Way goes beyond the funding of programs run by our affiliated agencies.  Mission of Mercy offers access to free oral health care to those in need; Energy Express and funding for After School and Summer Programs are collaborative initiatives with United Way and community agencies to promote school attendance and encourage personal growth for future success.

It is impossible for United Way to do its work without you, our donor.  For that, we thank you and remind you that there is no pledge too small when we all LIVE UNITED.

1st Annual Day of Caring and Sharing

The United Way of Hampshire County is proud to announce its 1st annual Day of Caring and Sharing to be held Saturday, June 23, 2018.

The Day of Caring and Sharing is a partnership between the United Way of Hampshire County and Refresh, Restart Romney. The event brings together people from throughout the community to work on projects in Romney. Flowers will be planted, curbs will be painted, and general cleanup will be done, along with trash removal.

According to Teresa Dillon, of Refresh, Restart Romney, “The United Way of Hampshire County approached me with the idea to recruit volunteers to help beautify Romney by weeding, sweeping sidewalks, picking up trash and possibly planting flowers and mulching.”

Juli McCoy, Executive Director of the United Way of Hampshire County said, “On Friday, May 18 we held our 21st annual Day of Caring & Sharing in Cumberland. Almost 500 volunteers participated and more than 40 projects were accomplished. We hope to make the Day of Caring & Sharing in Hampshire County an annual event.”

An opening ceremony will be held at Celebration Park beginning at 8am with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scout Pack 32. Coffee and donuts will be available before volunteers begin their projects.

Volunteers are needed. If you are interested in helping during the Day of Caring & Sharing or learning more about the event, please contact Teresa Dillon at Dillon’s Country Treasures or by emailing her at teresadillon1@hotmail.com or call the United Way office at 301-722-2700. All volunteers signed up for the event will receive a tee shirt to wear that day and a community picnic will be provided, sponsored by Refresh, Restart Romney, following the completion of the projects.
