2024-2025 1st Quarter Live United Grants Information

ALLEGANY COUNTY

Central Assembly of God Love & Lunch
LU grant funds will be used to provide an entrée, side dish, dessert and drink on Saturdays to underprivileged students when they are not in school. This will provide between 120-160 meals to around 125 students.

Fort Hill Project YES
he Live United Grant was used to purchase new clothing items, shoes and belts for their at-risk, low-income students. 100 students will be served with this grant.

Horizon Goodwill
Provided transportation via cab for clients to appointments, employment and other resources around the area. This grant served 25-30 individuals.

Interfaith Community Food Pantry
Purchased personal hygiene items to distribute to families in need when visiting the food pantry. 500 families or 1250 individuals will get needed hygiene items that can not be purchased with SNAP benefits.

Mercy Outreach
Will provide 30 children with new shoes at their Back-to-School event.

Western Maryland Food Bank
Purchased carts for individuals to use that walk to and from the food bank. This will make transporting items home from the food bank easier. 20 individuals will be served with the help of this grant.

 

GARRETT COUNTY

Broadford Judy Center
Families who have lost everything and are forced to relocate due to fire will be assisted with new blankets, bed sheets & pillowcases. This program will assist 14 or more families.

Broadford Elementary School
Purchased materials to provide a flexible seating area for the third-grade students. Materials will be used for inquiry-based learning. 24 students will benefit from these materials however the materials will be shared among all 3 third grade classrooms.

Broadford Elementary School
Behavior Area Support Break Area Room will be created for children to utilize when struggling to regulate their emotions and cope with their feelings. 650 students will have access to this area if needed.

Friendsville Elementary Judy Center
Live United Grant will be used to purchase diapers for families in need. This grant will serve around 350 individuals.

Friendsville Elementary Judy Center
Grant will be used to purchase hygiene items for families in need. Hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, body wash, lotion and hairbrushes will be available. These hygiene items will serve around 350 individuals.

Garrett County Public Schools
LU grant funds will be used to pay fees associated with having a therapy dog provide services to 4 of the area elementary schools to students who have experienced trauma and other life stressors. This therapy dog can potentially serve around 1,000 students.

Route 40 Elementary School
Learning through play materials were purchased for Pre – K students. These materials will help students who are new to the classroom. Materials such as Play Doh, letter stamps, reading rods, sensory tool sets, jumbo crayons and paintbrushes were purchased. 17 students will benefit from these learning materials.

Southern High School
Funds were used to purchase socks, T-Shirts and underwear available to any of the 880 students who may be in need of these items.

Yough Glades Judy Center
Hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, diapers and wipes to be available for 20-30 struggling families.

 

HAMPSHIRE COUNTY

Capon Bridge Middle School
Funds were used to purchase flexible seating for the classroom. Items such as cushions, wobble stools, standing desks and floor cushions will be provided for students with sensory needs and behavior issues. Nine high needs students will benefit from the flexible seating in the classroom.

Hampshire High Girls Soccer
Funds were used to purchase a Goalkeeper Line Deflection, Goalkeeper Matrix Ball Deflection and armbands for the team captains. 33 girls will utilize this equipment this year and will also aid future teams.

Hampshire County Public Library
Funds were used to purchase hygiene items such as; body wash, toothpaste, shampoo and feminine products. These hygiene items will serve about 100 struggling individuals in the community.

 

MINERAL COUNTY

Family 4 Life Church of God
Funds were used to provide 80 attendees of their vacation bible school a meal consisting of pizzas, chicken tenders, chips, popcorn and snow cones.

Fountain Primary School
LU grant funds will be used to purchase inventory for the Fountain Primary PBS shop. Students who display positive behavior are rewarded with “Bulldog Bucks”. These bucks can be used at the PBS shop to purchase rewards for their good behavior. 124 students will benefit from this positive reinforcement.
