“Little Pantry” for Hygiene Items Moved to HRDC Lobby

You may have noticed that the decorated and painted pantry box sitting outside of South Cumberland Library was removed recently. It was removed because there was repeated vandalism and food items were being added. The South Cumberland “Little Pantry” has been moved to a more secure location inside the lobby of HRDC at 125 Virginia Avenue. HRDC Grow West employees will now sponsor it

.

Since the beginning of the program in the Spring of 2019, the intent of the “Little Pantry” program was and continues to be to provide hygiene items that are not always available at larger pantries to people in low and fixed-income households.

Members of the public are encouraged to both use and contribute to the Pantry. Items needed must be personal care and hygiene items, including shampoo and conditioner, soap/body wash, feminine products, toothpaste/toothbrushes, laundry soap, diapers/wipes and creams, razors/shaving cream, first aid products and lotions.

County United Way continues to sponsor and coordinate “Little Pantries” at Georges Creek, Westernport and Piedmont Libraries, which were open in January 2022. There are also “Little Pantries” at the Kinder Center in Ridgeley, Mineral County Family Resource Center in Keyser, Loving Hands Outreach Center in Keyser and at the WVU Extension Office in Romney.
