COUNTY UNITED WAY RECEIVES COMMUNITY PANTRY GRANT

CUMBERLAND MD – TC Energy, a major North American energy infrastructure company whose holdings include Columbia Gas natural gas transmission lines in Maryland recently announced approval of a $5,000 grant from the TC Energy Foundation for County United Way Community Pantry Programs throughout CUW’s service area.

Describing the grant award, CUW Executive Director Michele Walker expressed thanks for the company’s attention to the growing need being served by CUW’s partners through community pantries.

“Talking to TC Energy’s Community Investment team representatives, they were very interested in how community pantries worked and how our partners are seeking expand the range of products available to include items that address new issues like hygiene poverty among children,” she explained.

Ultimately, according to Walker, the company unilaterally increased their gift to the announced level as a result of the discussion.

“We’re both thankful and pleased, that corporate citizens of Western Maryland like TC Energy are listening and responding to our community United Way’s innovative solutions to a variety of family needs,” she concluded.

The TC Energy funds are being expedited to CUW such that need supplies can be provided to local community pantry programs this Winter.  More information about CUW Community Pantry programs can be obtained by calling Michele Walker at 301-722-7200.
